“There is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all men…” 1 Timothy 2:5-6 (NIV)

1. Game Connect to Christ

Gospel through Game connect ministry is ministry in which we share Christ’s passion for the world. The Gospel did not come to us so that it could end with us. Christ trusted it to us so that we could bring it to others. A gospel-centered church is a missional church with a passion to bring the good news of Jesus Christ to all people.

That is why here at Eden Ministries Uganda we are committed to glorify God by multiplying… believers through sports and games in Uganda and around the world.

2. Providing high quality and inclusive healthcare and education

Through sports, Eden Ministries Uganda in partnership with the Church institutions will be providers of high quality and inclusive healthcare and education, including in communities where the state has limited resources and limited reach.

Many schools will be engaged in sports and games and there will be wider impacts in society due to the links to the wider community and issues they face will be addressed through sports. The ministry will work with the children and their families to build self-esteem and provide alternative prospects outside the dominant gang culture. The Game connect will provide schools with access to education for the vulnerable children, who would otherwise be excluded from wider educational opportunities.

3.Supporting sustainable livelihoods

Eden Ministries Uganda will be present at local level and support many communities, both rural and urban, towards sustainable livelihoods. Their ongoing presence and wide range of interventions will enable them to engage in the full spectrum of community activities, including sustainable agriculture, conflict resolution, women’s participation, organizational development, and health and sanitation provision. The length of time the Churches have served these communities, and their focus on serving each person and promoting the common good, means that it is widely trusted.

Through the games and sports, Eden Ministries Uganda’s presence on the ground, will enable the flourishing of different models of development that protect the environment and put people first.

4. Transform society

Eden Ministries Uganda through the games and sports will have a clear and hopeful vision of how the world could be in the future, based on its vision of integral human development and belief in a God who is active in human society. This includes looking after the world for both current and future generations.

Through the games and sports, Eden Ministries Uganda will implement an evidence-based learning programme with churches, community clubs analyzing what has worked, and what has not worked in previous collaborations especially with donors and government. This could start with areas of mutual interest, such as humanitarian intervention, peacebuilding and responding to pandemics including Ebola and Covid-19.

5. Evangelism through sports and games

We want to make Jesus Known across Uganda through a game connect to many friend on mission and the world.  Eden Ministries Uganda will reach out to everyone with the great news of Jesus and the amazing life-changing stories found in Him through organizing soccer. We shall give people the choice to join His movement and let Him use them to transform the world through our network.

Why Game connect approach for gospel ministry

Sports are not the traditional way of sharing the Gospel, but we all have natural gifts and we are all called to use them. The roads to Rome carried the Gospel in the first century, but sports and other natural giftings could arguably be a means of carrying the Gospel today. Some might question why sports evangelism is even a consideration. However, sport is important for several reasons; The World has become more resistant to traditional forms of ministry.

  • Sports attempts to go where traditional evangelism has not been effective in reaching the lost.
  • People are familiar with sports personalities, media events and competitions they are already following. (When these persons get saved, they tend to be very passionate and they already have a captive audience).
  • Sports connect with people and move towards active discipleship. Sports evangelism is necessary because it attracts the secularized and the ‘unchurched’; it primarily reaches two missing groups in the Church (men and youth) and it fulfills church growth principles.
  • People are mostly influenced while having fun and sports like football and athletic facilities attract people.
  • The bible often speaks of analogies and stories as encouragement for persevering and achieving our goals. Therefore, many verses can offer athletes motivation and inspiration for training and competition.  Remember that whether you win or lose, God can be glorified through your hard work: Philippians 4:13 ‘I can do all this through him who gives me strength’

Hebrews 12:1 ‘Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us’

Isaiah 40:31 ‘but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint’

1 Corinthians 9:24 ‘Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize’
  • Sport is a powerful tool that promotes health and build a sense of community. It can also provide young people with positive adult role models, mentors, and opportunities for positive development. To provide these benefits, we must build an inclusive community sport system that delivers sport that is fun, fair, inclusive and promotes excellence.
  • Many children and youth in Uganda experience challenges including abuse, violence, deprivation, isolation, exclusion, limited economic and social opportunities and disruptions to daily life including schooling due to long distances. They also suffer from psychological stress, anxiety and illnesses. In addition, Evidence shows that illness, developmental challenges and even early death are connected to childhood hardship and exposure to violence.
  • Through the game connect, Youth will gain improved skills and strategies to support their mental health and psychosocial wellbeing; applying them in daily lives. Youth can develop new or stronger social and support networks, including connections with people from diverse backgrounds.
